Life as we know it...

So life never seems to go according to plan; if it did, wouldn't that make it boring? With every new obstacle opens a new door for opportunity. Finding out what exactly that opportunity is can be both emotionally distressful and frustrating.

I am one of those people that strongly believes that everything happens for a reason. My greatest example would be my son. I consider my son to be my hero. When we first found out we were expecting, we were scared (terrified). The out-pouring of love and support we received from our families and friends truly made us realize that what we had was a blessing. Unfortunately, shortly after we began planning our wedding...my dad passed away unexpectedly.

Had I not been pregnant I can honestly say I don't know how I would have reacted. I knew I had to be strong for my baby and that alone saved me. I have the utmost respect for my siblings and how strong they were during that heart-breaking experience as I do not know how I would have handled the situation if I were not looking out for the best interest of my son. June marks the three year anniversary of my father's death and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him and miss him like crazy.

Like I said, I believe everything happens for a reason. My Dad's time had come and I was sent an angel to watch over me, my son, and he has unknowingly been my inspiration and my strength.

So on a brighter note (if you want to call it that) I lost my job about a month ago. I liked my job, I really did, but I have enjoyed the extra time with my little man. We have had the opportunity to spend lots more time together. I think the biggest struggle for me out of the whole situation was taking him away from his preschool. He loved school, and had friends and amazing teachers there. I felt bad for a long time about taking him out, and I occasionally still do, but part of me wonders why the hell do I feel bad about getting to spend more time with my kid?? He's mine. The answer is simple. He loved school, his friends, and his teachers. I will forever be grateful for the amount of time, love and compassion they showed him and how much he was able to learn from them.

With all of our extra time we have managed to have a little bit of fun :)

We went to the Home opening Astros game (4/8/2011), where Dayton had a taste of his first ball park dog:

Disney on Ice (4/16/11):

Dayton LOVED LOVED LOVED Disney on ice. I mean REALLY loved it. He was so into it he now runs around the house acting like he is flying. Toy Story is absolutely one of his favorite movies and he knows every single character on the show. It is so cute.

Unfortunately I could not get a great picture, he was way more interested in the show:

The following week D-LO and I went to visit the A-Town (B-Team)crowd. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures (WTF?) but it was fun to see them none the less. Chinny continuously looks like he ate the old Henry every time I see him and Stella just keeps getting more social and very talkative..and BIGGER! Her and Dayton played so cute together! Won't be long before Chinny is joining in on all the fun!

Easter (4/24/11):

So Easter was fun this year. The bunny came to visit Dayton (because OBVIOUSLY he was a good boy) and he raked in lots of candy, clothes and candy, candy and more candy.... He pretty much only wants to eat candy now. He did his very first Easter egg hunt at Gramps' house and it turned out to be a success! Once he figured out he was looking for eggs he was all about it:

6 Month ENT Visit (4/26/11):

Dayton had is 6 month visit to the ENT this past Tuesday (4/26/11) and everything is looking pretty good. His right ear tube seems to be almost out and his left ear is working its way out. Her main concern was the fact that he snores like and adult. She thinks his adenoids might have grown back and we go back in 3 months to have another check up. Right now he is supposed to be on nose drops daily which kind of freaks me out considering I've heard nose spray can be addicting... Let's hope for the best!

Other than that we have been hanging low and seeing Dayton's gal pals Audrey and Bella as often as possible. The dynamic duo can't go to long from seeing each other after all..
