So one of the things I love most about watching my son grow up is to see where his imagination will take him. It is amazing and so hilarious what he comes up with each and every day, not to mention what comes out of his mouth (and if we are being honest, it isn't always appropriate, and for that I blame Josh).
The other night we were laying in my bed watching cartoons and I look over to see that Dayton had taken the comforter and turned it into a "boat". From there he proceeded to build Josh and I both a boat to protect us from the sharks and dinosaurs (he's really into the whole dinosaur thing since visiting the T-Rex restaurant).
So the next night we were downstairs in the living room getting ready for movie night, and much to our surprise we went from being comfy on the couch to cold and blanket-less. There were now boats (blankets) built all over the living room floor and we were all supposed to jump aboard in order to save ourselves (he wasn't buying the whole "my couch is a boat and I am perfectly safe here, so give me back my blanket").
Being the genius that I am, I pulled out our queen sized air mattress, and before you know it we had ourselves a ship big enough for the whole family, except the dogs- they were sharks. Movie night couldn't have gone more wrong either- now we were so excited we were on a big ship searching for dinosaurs and keeping the sharks off that we could not pay attention to anything else, let alone sit still to watch a movie.
From there, a mission was formed to save some stuffed animals and a box of Toy Story toys from the sharks (and dinosaurs). Once everyone was safe and sound on our "Big Ship" the toys, of course, were not getting along. Fights broke out, and before you know it I hear Dayton yelling angrily "Buzz, are you kidding me? Go to time out and don't come out until you apologize!" A short time later, Buzz was joined in time out by the other rescue toys.
The ship finally came down this morning after a long weekend of shark and dinosaur hunting, fighting toys, and a bossy three year old captain. The toys, however, are still in time out.
