I guess we'll start with where I left off. We had our first encounter with snow at the beginning of December- super exciting, but no fun to drive in. Really it was hardly any snow, but more than this former Houstonian has ever seen. I got up early and immediately checked the news to see if the whole entire city had shut down, much to my surprise it had not.
It's soooooo Snowy!!!

Our neighborhood is pretty awesome when it come to getting in to the spirit of any Holiday. This year (and maybe every year, but this is our first Christmas here, obviously) they held a breakfast with Santa at the Elementary School. It was cute, and of course Dayton was excited... until he sat on Santa's lap. He did good though, was sure to make it clear he was in the market for some toys, and he had definitely been a good boy this year (clearly we differ on what the definition of "good" is.)

December 15, my little booger turned 3!! I can hardly believe it! I have honestly treasured every last second of these three years with him, and I look forward to many, many more wonderful memories to come. He is the light of my life and I don't know who I would have become had he not blessed us with his presence. I LOVE YOU DAYTON LEE OPREA!
Happy Birthday to my Favorite lil Man!

DLO also had his Christmas party at school on his special day, which meant I had the opportunity to sit through half of his class to celebrate. Fun stuff!
That night, after presents and cake, we headed out for an all-nighter to H-Town for our Christmas vacation, and DLO's birthday party!
We held Dayton's party at Gramp's house and had a great time. Birthday Spidey was spoiled as usual and of course could not get his gifts open fast enough.
Jarshua celebrated the big 3-1 on the 23rd, and then Christmas weekend began.
Happy Birthday Jarshua, and Merry Christmas from the Oprea's
Christmas turned out great, filled with tons of presents and family time. I Loved getting to see all my awesome nieces and nephews throughout the week and finally got to meet miss Lila Claire Namisnak who is just as cute (if not cuter) in person!!
We headed back to Kansas on the 26th, with Mom following us (Thank goodness she did, all our Christmas presents took up two cars) and was able to ring in the new year with her as well!
So farewell 2011, with the exception of adding two new babies to the Hemmen clan, and one to the Oprea, you were a pretty crappy year. I'm gladly raising a glass to 2012 in hopes of happiness, health, wealth, and an overall better year. Cheers!
Aaaaaand with that being said, we are now 21 days into the new year and we have already had a few obstacles to overcome. The scariest being Dayton's first visit to the Emergency Room a couple weeks ago. What started off as a normal Saturday morning turned into an extremely scary evening. Out of nowhere Dayton went from all over the place to extremely lethargic, with a temperature that was rapidly increasing. Once it hit 105.9 we were hauling ass to the hospital. It turned out to be some random viral infection and he was fine by the time we left, with no fever at all by Monday. Weird, and so scary.
Just got home from the hospital, doped up and feeling good! (Just DLO, not me)
So 2012, looks like we got off on the wrong foot, but it is still early. Let's make it the best year yet!!
And yes, we are still LOVING it here in Kansas!
